She was born Debra Jane Sivyer on September 18, 1957 in Oakland, California.  And though Debbi was the youngest of five daughters born to a welder father and a housewife mother, she was destined for greatness.

At the age of 13, she got her first job and used the $5 weekly paycheck to buy cookie ingredients to perfect her baking recipes and skills.

At the age of 19, she married her first husband, Randy Fields.  And though she has always had the utmost respect for stay-at-home moms and housewives, she craved for there to be something more in the mix.

And so, in 1977 at the age of twenty, she did the impossible by convincing a banker to loan her the capitol to start an untested business, her "Chocolate Chippery."  From this one store in Palo Alto, California, grew a $500 million cookie empire.

Debbi Fields' love of children and her desire to have the true all-American family drove her to extreme multitasking, serving as CEO of her successful company while simultaneously raising a family.   Fortunately, in naming her children she chose more midwest-friendly names for her daughters, like Jessica, Jenessa, Jennifer, Ashley and McKenzie (instead of more "awkward" names like Bristol, Piper, Track, Willow, and Trig).

Always on the cutting edge of technology, Debbi incorporated computer systems into the operations of her company back in 1989 when such systems were relatively new.  Today, she has offered to lend a gentle, guiding hand to John McCain as he now takes his first steps toward learning to use a computer.

Debbi Fields has garnered more than 25 years of entrepreneurial, operational and managerial experience, all of it earned in a company that she built (literally) from scratch, as founder, baker, chief cookie lover and now former chairman of Mrs. Fields Cookies.  Any employee firings done by "Mrs. Fields" were done according to legal, company guidelines and there are no outstanding investigations of any kind regarding any of her activities.  The are also no bridges in her past ... only baking sheets and balance sheets.

Debbi divorced her long time husband and remarried Michael Rose, the retired chairman of Harrah's Entertainment, on November 29, 1997, relocating with him to Memphis, Tennessee.  With five children from her first marriage and five from her second, Debbi certainly knows a thing or two about family.

Debbi Fields is also a best-selling author.  None of her books have ever been considered for banning.  She can also list numerous newspapers and magazines by name that she reads on regular basis.

She has hosted numerous television programs, so she not only looks good on TV but actually knows what to say when she's in front of a camera.

Debbi is also widely known for her inspirational quotes, such as "Good enough never is" and "The biggest failure in life is never trying."  These promise to ring much truer and clearer to the American people than "What is it exactly that the VP does every day?" and "You betcha!"

And though she has never officially been called a "maverick," Debbi did enjoy the TV show in the 60's, and a friend of hers once owned an old Ford Maverick that leaked oil and broke down quite frequently.

Debbi keeps a "dream sheet" of all the things she still wants to do and accomplish in her life.  Soon, she will be able to scratch "Vice President of the United States of America" off that lengthy list ...

... and in the ticket of McCain-Fields, America will at last find its recipe for success!
